Denise Melville-Blackman, Esq.

Denise attended St. Johns University in Queens, New York.  She started her tertiary education as a government and politics major.  Initially she had her sights on acquiring a position with the U.S government’s Federal Bureau of Investigation.  As time progressed her focus shifted to constitutional issues thereby developing an interest in becoming a federal court judge.  As a result, she then diverted her attention to pursue a career in law.

After graduating cum laude from the prestigious catholic university she went on to Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan and remained there for her first year of law school.  She thereafter returned to New York and continued her legal education at the Touro Law Center in Central Islip, New York, where she graduated with her Juris Doctorate in 2007.  After declining several positions with private firms and the District Attorney’s office she accepted an offer by a private general practice firm in Queens, New York where she felt she had the scope to learn and grow.  Within a year after working at the firm she was placed in charge and control of the matrimonial division dealing with divorces, child custody and child support specifically.

In this capacity she became a force to be reckoned with commanding attention of the courts and her adversaries and as a result, settling all of her matrimonial cases in her clients’ favors.  As far as her matrimonial cases are concerned it is believed that she has approximately 99% of her clients that are happy with the outcome of their cases.  One of the things that has made her so successful in her practice is her painstaking attention to the details and her remarkable research skills which were honed early in her career prior to practicing law when she was a valued researcher for a private firm and a prominent insurance company hired to investigate various issues of multi-million dollar insurance Fraud in the city and state of New York.

During the period of her successes as a matrimonial attorney and in continuous education as an attorney she was also began training in the areas of International Adoptions, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) petitions, Deportation Defense Cases, and General Immigration law.

She was invited to become a partner in the small firm in 2009, thus forming the firm of Blackman & Melville, P.C.  It was after this period of time that her knowledge in the practice further expanded to Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcy law and some amounts of civil litigation which kept her extremely busy until 2013 where-after she decided to move to Georgia to expand her practice.

In 2013 she made a move to Georgia where she was admitted to the Georgia bar in 2014. Subsequent to her admission to practice in Georgia she has continued her success by adjudicating primarily immigration and matrimonial cases in her clients’ favors.  Through an extensive network setting she has formed the basis for her practice in Georgia and by way of New York to introduce and grow a VAWA (Volence Against Women Act) clinic for battered women with immigration and other special legal issues by providing quality legal representation through the Immigration process.  In 2016 we have formally seen the doors to the Law office of Denise Melville-Blackman open in Atlanta, Georgia in the furtherance of her objectives in the practice of law.

Additionally, presently she avidly represents small businesses in New York as well as individuals in various areas of practice including corporate and business law, restaurant law, bankruptcy and civil litigation.  She is extending her practice in these areas to small to medium size businesses in the state of Georgia.
